Meet Quacy Barry, Founder and CEO of Barry’s Construction & Renovation Ltd
For Quacy Barry, the founder and CEO of Barry’s Construction & Renovation Ltd. building, creating and renovating has truly been a labor of love most of his life. He’s been in the business since he was a 13-year-old kid in his native country of Guyana. In Guyana, he had a lot of opportunities to practice and perfect his craft, and by the age of 16 he was a master carpenter. At 19, Quacy was a certified contractor. He had accumulated thousands of hours in the trade, and gained a wealth of expertise before he was even out of his teen years. Today, he has participated in too many renovations to count!
In 2002, Quacy joined his father in Canada for a better life and increased opportunity. It was a bit chilly, and that was tough for a guy from South America at first. It was even harder getting his foot in the door as a contractor, because no one knew anything about Quacy or his skills. However, he persisted because building and renovating homes was what he had always loved doing. He took on a variety of odd jobs, worked as a forklift operator and on a construction crew building homes in subdivisions. Quacy has always felt that the quality of your work says a lot about who you are, so no matter the job, he always puts forth 100%.
It was while working on the construction crew, that Quacy learned a great deal about how homebuilders operate. The majority throw homes up as quickly as possible, and don’t pay a lot of attention to detail and quality. This really bothered him as a craftsman, and it inspired Quacy to return to school and study construction technology. He was able to not only update his skills, but also learn cutting edge techniques in building and construction management.
In 2010, Quacy launched Barry’s Construction & Renovation Ltd. which focuses on renovating and building custom homes. Quacy had the privilege of launching his business under the mentorship and tutelage of his grandfather, Aldwyn Barry, a master builder and well-known expert in the industry. Aldwyn began his homebuilding and renovation business in the 1980s in Canada.
Quacy takes on a limited number of projects per year, because he feels that is the only way to ensure the best quality, impeccable design and superior customer attention. This simply cannot be done in a rush. “My clients put one of their most treasured assets in my hands: their homes. So, I treat their homes as if they were my own,” says Quacy when talking about his life’s work. He approaches every renovation and custom home project with extreme attention to the smallest details, respect for deadlines, the most advanced technology and design, and transparency throughout every step of the process. Quacy loves seeing people totally satisfied when they get the keys to their new custom home, or walk into a completed renovation project. Quacy Barry’s mission is to make dream homes a reality.
